When we visited our home church we met the volunteers involved in the program our brother, Jules, had told us about. We joined them in their work and were touched to see this small group of people making a difference, managing to feed 150 children once a week with few resources. In speaking with these volunteers, one lady said to us “twe twararize amarira arakama, none harageze ko namwe murira mukihanagura” - “We have no more tears…our tears are dried up, now is your time to cry and wipe yours.” On our last Sunday with them, we promised them that this wasn’t the end; we would go back home and continue to make a difference.

Here is our friend Desingimana.  If he looks exhausted it's because he is.  Everyday he works at the market carrying bananas for shops and customers.  This is the only way he eats, and it usually takes him a couple of days to pay for one tiny meal.  When we spoke with him we noticed that he was hunched over a bit.  It turns out that this Desingimana (a pre-teen) already has back problems from working too hard.  But this is his life and this is all he knows.  He told us that ALL of his family are dead.  His dream is to go to school and become a business man that  wears a nice suit.

This is Irmana Iraduha, one of our children.  He has no idea what happened to his parents or the rest of his family.  He too has dreams like other children.  Irmana wants to go to school and become a doctor.  He is one of our children.  During the program this poor boy is often seen nodding off because he has not had enough to eat or drink during the week.  His only possession is a wreath he made out of plants.
