Khesian Niyonseng    Born:  December 12, 1996                       

Khesian was born in a family of 8 to parents who were peasant farmers. Her brother, Jean Claude, left home at the age of 9 to       live on the streets of Kigali because his parents were unable to feed him and send him to school. He joined our Shelter Them family in 2012 and since then he had excelled in school and had become a role model to all his peers. In August 2016 he passed away from a sudden illness. Your sponsorship of Khesian would make Jean Claude’s dying wish come true and enable Khesian access to nutritious food, education and health care

 

Katie Muhoza   Born: 2003

This precious 13 yr old girl needs your help. Her father recently died leaving her 3 younger sisters and her mom in extreme poverty. Their home is barely liveable and the only income they have comes from the milk they get from goats given to them by Shelter Them supporters. Your sponsorship will provide Katie and her family with some stability and offer them hope for a promising future

 

Shania Gihozo   Born: 2013

Shania is a beautiful 3 year old who lives with her mom, grandmother and 3 sisters. Their dad died and since then their situation is very grave. They live in a tiny shack with a leaky tin roof. The family has little means of support but with your help by sponsoring Shania for $ 40.00 a month they can have a brighter future

 

Emarine Iradakunda   Born: 2015

This adorable little girl is 15 months old and lives with her older brothers and her mom and dad. Her dad is physically and mentally disabled because of the 1994 genocide where all his family was killed.  He is unable to provide fully for the family and they live in desperate conditions. By sponsoring this beautiful little girl you will give her an opportunity to rise above the poverty she was born into and give her hope and a future

 

Speracia Uwambaje   Born: 2008

This adorable 8 yr old girl lives in a tiny shack with her mom, grandmother and 3 sisters. Her dad recently died and the family’s situation is dire. The only means of support they have now is the milk they get from their 2 goats given to them by Shelter Them supporters. Your monthly sponsorship would greatly improve the lives of Speracia and her family giving them a chance for a brighter future

 

Tirifina Muhaza   Born: 2006

This beautiful 10 yr old girl lives in extreme poverty with her 3 sisters, mom and grandmother. Her father recently died leaving the family in a grave situation. Their roof is leaking and their home is in bad need of repairs. Please consider becoming a sponsor of Tryphene and giving her hope and a chance for a better life

 

Edisa Muhawenimana   Born: 2009

This precious 7 year old little girl is in grave condition. She is visibly malnourished and her clothes are only rags. This family survives only on casual labour and their house made of mud and sticks is in desperate need of repairs. Please consider supporting Edisa and help break the cycle of poverty that she is currently growing up in   

 
ANGELIQUE 2015

Angelique Akimana   Born: February 2001  

Angelique was living in extreme poverty with her mother and 4 siblings in southern Rwanda.  Her aunt Vanencia decided to bring her to Kigali with hopes of providing a better future for her.  But Vanencia is an HIV positive widow and struggled to survive.  We met Angelique on our first trip in 2009 and visited her in 2012 and 2014.  Our hearts broke when we saw how poor her living conditions had become over the years, so Shelter Them decided to step in and add her to our Sponsorship Program in 2015.  Your sponsorship will enable this beautiful young lady to get an education and to have a much brighter future

 
BAYISENGE 2014

Sandrine Bayisenge   Born: August 22, 2014

Days after giving birth to this baby girl, the mother ran away from the hospital.  An unsuccessful search was made to find Bayisenges mother, who suffers from mental illness. Shelter Them was soon contacted by local authorities and asked us to take this baby to join the Mugisha Home. We gave her the name Sandrine and brought her to the hospital for a checkup.  To our surprise she was HIV +.  Now she can grow in a stable family and be cared for the way a child needs

Florence has a mentally and physically disabled sister whom her mom stays home and cares for. Her dad has no education or skills. The family lived in a one-room shack in a slum and felt their situation was hopeless. In December, Shelter Them intervened and moved the family into a nice home. Olivia Manirafasha   Born: April 28, 2003

Olivia is mentally and physically disabled. She probably has Cerebral Palsy, but her smile lights up the world. A disability in a third world country can be a death sentence but for Olivia it may have saved her life. After donating a wheelchair to her we discovered her life of poverty and in December 2012 we rescued her and her family, brought them into our program and put them in a proper home. Your sponsorship will enable Olivia to live a productive and fulfilling life


KEVINE 2014

Kevine Uwimbabazi   Born: July 1, 2000  

Kevine's story is heartbreaking. Her mom died when Kevine was a baby, and her stepmother despised her. She was kept as a slave and beaten severely from ages 4 to 9. When Shelter Them rescued her, she had serious wounds on both legs and was traumatized from the abuse. Through Shelter Them, she is now receiving counselling for her psychological problems stemming from years of abuse. Your sponsorship will help Kevine overcome the adversity of her past and reach for a brighter future

 
BIG KEVINE 2014

Kevine Uwumuhoza   Born: April 24, 1996 

Kevine was taken in by her uncle after the death of her mother when Kevine was 11. She has never known her father. They lived in extreme poverty until a friend of Kevine's mother told a Shelter Them worker about Kevine's situation. Shelter Them was able to provide Kevine with a loving home, and she has now completed Primary school and is doing very well. Your sponsorship will ensure that she is able to complete her education with hope for a great future

Sandrine is the eldest girl of 6 siblings. She was 10 years old when her mom died in childbirth with her brother Joshua. A neighbour who had heard about Shelter Them, intervened. Ever since, the 6 siblings have lived together in a Shelter Them home with a loving caregiver. Your sponsorship will allow Sandrine to grow up in a loving home with her siblings around her


SHAKIRA

Shakira Uwimana   Born: January 18, 1998  

Shakira was being raised by her aunt after the death of her mother when she was five years old. She has never met her father, who is in prison. Shelter Them rescued Shakira when her aunt became unable to provide for her. She is now doing well in school, and your sponsorship will provide her with a loving home and hope for the future.
