PARTY TIME!

October 4, 2008

The Annual Fundraising Gala

On Saturday October 4 we had our Gala dinner.  This year as good as ever.  There was good food, good speakers, good music and some really good dancing.  There was also exciting announcements  about our next stage.  Thank you every one who came, helped and donated.

Remember that without you, there is no us.

100 Days Campaign for Change

Our goal was $10,000  A penny for every life lost and

we raised $27,483.12 , Thank you everyone

Each year Rwanda remembers the 100 days of genocide, which took place April 7 – July 17 1994. This year Shelter Them is joining in this time of remembrance and hope with our own 100 Days for Change campaign. Through the simple act of putting your loose change into a jar we are able to provide more funds for our feeding programs in Kigali. As you drop coins into your jar every day, you bring food and education to the children of Rwanda. Join us and help us show the children of Rwanda that we will not let the world forget them again. You can click here to download and print the label we used.

July 25-27, 2008

Jocelyne and Josephine have been invited to speak in the beautiful province of Newfoundland.  After the congregation of a church saw the twins on 100 Huntley Street they were so touched, they decided that we needed to come and speak.

There are also other churches in Ontario that are planning to have us come and speak.  We appreciate all the warmth and support we have been receiving from "The Rock" and hope that the passion will spread throughout this amazing country of Canada.

Mikes Head Shaving

As we pondered quietly about how to celebrate Shelter Them receiving legal charity status (for issuing tax receipts) it was not clear to us how to celebrate.  We thought of a dance, concert or even  a gourmet dinner.  But that’s not as fun as shaving a head!!! But Mike’s not cheap.  He has given us an ultimatum; we need to raise two thousand dollars before he undergoes his makeover. All donations will go to Shelter Them and his hair will be given to         Angel Hair.

And Tax receipts will be given!!     Off with his shiny locks!
